Young String Ambassadors

The Young String Ambassadors is a performing string ensemble for elementary and middle school students who are in the early stages of their musical development. It is an Arizona Western College music class which was developed in 2002. Students represent schools from all over the county. The class is designed so that young people have an opportunity to:

Develop:

an appreciation for quality music, basic ensemble; skills, ear-training, memorization skills, a good work ethic, taking responsibility, communication skills, strong sense of self-worth.

Learn:

play a violin, viola, cello with great beauty, perform in public, follow directions, work as a strong team member.



Students must register with the permission of the instructor through AWC. They must also take private lessons. The Yuma Orchestra Association has a scholarship program available to ease tuition costs for the class as well as for private lessons. The Association also helps with the cost of the uniforms and instruments. In the past, the Young String Ambassadors have traveled to Phoenix to attend Suzuki Conferences and Fiddling Camp at Arizona State University Class is on Tuesday afternoons at Cibola High School located at 4100 West 20th Street from 5:15; 6:45 pm.
