Orchestra Students go to Branson
It’s a Cinderella story straight out of Hollywood: A group of young musicians from a remote southwestern metropolitan area starts receiving standing ovations at state events. Usually folks from out of town are the first to stand up and applaud. Later, their performances before Arizona dignitaries – and eventually at the Governor’s Convention in Scottsdale – are similarly received. Before long, this ensemble of 17 musicians ages 12 to 18 has recorded a demo DVD, which gets noticed in Branson, Missouri. They are invited to perform on June 10, 2006, as the opening act for a major entertainer at this center of grassroots American entertainment. They will also have an opportunity to participate in an educational workshop to help them perfect their art.
