GENERAL INFORMATION
Strings Del Rio, a summer orchestra camp will be held June 16 – 21 in Yuma, AZ at Cibola High School, 4100 W. 20th Street from 9:00 A.M. – 3:30 P.M Tuesday through Friday. Monday sign-in will begin at 7:30 A.M. with classes going from 9:00 – 3:30. Saturday morning warm-ups for the final concert are at 9:00 with the concert at 10:00.
Instruction will be provided by extensively experienced string music educators and performers. The Western Society of Chamber Music Quartet from Ontario, CA will provide Master Class/Sectionals and conducting of the different orchestras.
Friday evening a family BBQ will be provided by Yuma High School District’s Food Services. Campers, teachers, and helpers will have the meal provided. The general public will pay $5.00 per meal. Following the BBQ the Western Society of Chamber Music Quartet from Ontario, CA will give a public performance in which the students may attend at no cost. The general public concert tickets are $10.00 for adults, $15.00 for couples and $5.00 for seniors and students. Students under 12 years of age will not be charged.
Any string player who can meet the criteria of one of the four orchestra levels (read “Camper Eligibility”) is welcome. Students under 18 years of age needing hotel accommodations must be accompanied by a chaperone.
HEALTH SERVICES
The camp is less than three miles from a Regional Medical Center and two miles from an urgent care facility or EMT/Firehouse. Students must complete and turn in the medical information on their registration form and students under 18 years of age must have a Parental Waiver Form on file.
ORCHESTRA PLACEMENT
Students should study the “Camper Eligibility” and then sign up for the orchestra in which they believe they will do their best. Orchestra conductors have the right to switch students to another orchestra if the need arises.
